Svenska Mässkonsult and its partners have transformed Precious into the number-one venue in the Nordics for business and networking in the watch and jewellery industry. We are extremely proud of this achievement, and were it not for all of you who have both exhibited and visited the fair over the years, we would never have managed. We know that Precious is a vital forum for the industry, and it is with great regret that we inform you that the 2019 fair will not be going ahead.
The industry is going through a tough period, as we’re sure everyone is aware. And we see several international venues suffering from downward trending visitor figures, with fairs losing both exhibitors and visitors. And sadly, this is also noticeable at Precious. As arrangers, we have an enormous responsibility to the industry, as we are well aware of how important the fair is for a lot of players.
Well in advance we were already planning several changes for the 2019 fair in order to adapt to the requirements of the industry. And although these were well received by a lot of the exhibitors, we had hoped for considerably better results. We feel that the falling lack of interest - which is evidenced by the number of registered exhibitors - is well and truly out of our hands. We never thought the contrast with previous years would be so pronounced. It makes it very difficult for us to present the quality and the spirited fair that Precious represents. It would be an injustice to arrange Precious now, both to the registered exhibitors and to visitors.
So what now?
We don’t intend to cancel the fair permanently. We plan to sit down with other players in the industry and talk about the future.
We hope to see you again soon.
